The Best Day Ever
Behind our house we have a wonderful canyon, complete with a stream, deer, coyote, etc.
With all the recent rains we also have Vernal Pools. Basically muddy pools of water. But we got enough rain this year to bring the frogs out.
So these pools were full of tadpoles.
We got our tadpole hunting gear, a cup and plastic bag.
and caught us some tadpoles
That night Garrett exclaimed it was the best day ever. He explained it this way.
"Dad that was so cool catching a pet. We should never buy a pet, just catch them. I love that"

I've often wondered what happened to all of those frogs - remember the year that you came home with a pick-up truck full of frogs - now that there are houses built where that empty field use to be.
